In 2007, Jorge was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and underwent aggressive treatment, including a bone marrow transplant. Before treatment began, doctors discussed fertility preservation, but his condition was so severe that the priority became saving his life. Years later, after marrying his wife Elizabeth, the couple decided they wanted to start a family. Their first IVF attempt brought difficult news. Doctors found no sperm and told them the chances of having biological children were extremely low.
