2027 Chevy Silverado First Look: The V8s Are Back

Chevrolet has revealed the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, and while the exterior styling is more evolutionary than revolutionary, the big story is under the hood: brand-new V8 engines. For 2027, the Silverado 1500 gets a new powertrain lineup led by next-generation 5.7L and 6.6L V8 engines, alongside an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax now paired with a 10-speed transmission, plus the returning 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. Chevy says this is the most powerful Silverado ever, and the new V8 engines are clearly the headline feature for truck buyers who still want traditional V8 power. Outside, the 2027 Silverado gets a bolder face, updated lighting, new trim-specific styling, and a more modern truck stance without completely abandoning the Silverado look. Inside, the changes are much bigger, with a new digital cockpit, a standard 16.3-inch center screen, a 12.2-inch driver display, and available passenger screen, head-up display, and rear camera mirror on higher trims. The new lineup includes seven trims: Work Truck, Custom, Silverado, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, ZR2, and High Country. Chevy is also putting a bigger focus on off-road trims, with Trail Boss, Custom Trail Boss, and the most capable Silverado ZR2 yet.
