[4K] Hellenic Air Force Phantom F-4 II Demo Team Raw display!

While the “Phantom Display Team” of the Hellenic Air Force does not have an official aerobatic team dedicated exclusively to the F-4 Phantom II, pilots from the squadrons operating this iconic fighter-bomber — especially the 338 Mira “Aris” based at Andravida Air Base — perform demonstrations and flypasts that have captivated audiences at various European airshows. The McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II (in its modernized AUP - Avionics Upgrade Program version) remains one of the most legendary aircraft still in active NATO service. Greece received its first Phantoms in 1974 under the “Peace Icarus” program. Out of more than 120 aircraft acquired, approximately 30-35 modernized F-4Es are still operational, primarily with the 338 and 339 Squadrons of the 117 Combat Wing, wearing the distinctive “Aegean Ghost” camouflage. These displays typically feature powerful low-level flybys, aggressive maneuvers, and passes that highlight the power of its two J79 engines and its unmistakable silhouette. These are not complex aerobatics like those performed by official teams (such as the Zeus or Daedalus of the HAF), but dynamic exhibitions that celebrate the longevity of this “old Cold War warrior.” At events like the Athens Flying Week, Sanicole International Airshow, or RIAT, Greek Phantoms have consistently been among the most cheered attractions. The Greek F-4 Phantom represents not only a still-capable combat platform, but also a symbol of Hellenic military aviation history. Despite its age, it continues to roar powerfully across the skies of the Mediterranean and at air festivals, reminding us that legends never truly die.
