🌧️ Heavy Rain & Snow Expected Across Northern Pakistan | PMD Press Release | 16 Jan 2026

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a strong westerly weather system likely to enter Balochistan on 16 January and affect upper and central parts of Pakistan from 19 to 21 January 2026. ⛅ Expected Impacts: Rain-wind/thunderstorm and snowfall over the hills in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Potohar region. Intermittent rain with isolated heavy falls in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Skardu, Hunza, and Neelum Valley. Rain/thunderstorm expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, Faisalabad, and Multan. Possible urban flooding, landslides, and road closures in hilly areas. ⚠️ Advisories: Tourists are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during the spell. Farmers are urged to plan irrigation accordingly.
