Powered by four Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone radial engines, advanced descendants of the engines that powered the legendary B-29 Superfortress, the Super Constellation represents the pinnacle of piston-powered airliner development. The distinctive sound of these eighteen-cylinder engines is among the most iconic in aviation history. What makes this flight particularly significant is that it is now remembered as the aircraft's last outbound flight before being grounded following an engine issue. Today, VH-EAG remains on the ground while efforts continue to secure a replacement engine and return this aviation icon to the skies.
