Is the 2026 Honda Prelude the Affordable Corvette Alternative?

The 2026 Honda Prelude is finally back after 25 years, but this is not the stripped-down sports car some people expected. Instead, Honda has brought the Prelude back as a hybrid grand touring coupe with Civic Type R-derived hardware, real-world efficiency, surprising hatchback practicality, and a very different kind of fun behind the wheel. In this review, we take the all-new Prelude on East Texas backroads to see if Honda’s new “balanced sporty coupe” formula makes sense. With 200 horsepower, 232 lb-ft of torque, Honda’s new S+ Shift system, Brembo brakes, adaptive dampers, a hatchback cargo area and more than 40 MPG possible, this may not be the next Toyota GR86 rival.
