Sonam Wangchuk Taken Away by Delhi Police, But Protest Grows at Jantar Mantar

Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly removed from the protest site at Jantar Mantar and taken to a hospital after 21 days of hunger strike. Protesters claim that police personnel in civil clothes dragged him away and pushed those who tried to intervene. Some protesters were allegedly injured in the scuffle. But Wangchuk’s removal has not ended the protest. He is continuing his hunger strike from the hospital, while the crowd at Jantar Mantar has grown nearly four times larger. Abhijit Dipke has now taken over the hunger strike and says protesters will not return to the stage until Wangchuk comes back.
