The Mysterious Delivery of a Suppressed Report In the preface of the book, Akash Gour explains the deeper context behind the events through a remarkable personal anecdote shared by Sita Ram Goel. In 1984, Goel was living an extremely modest & difficult life in Delhi. A sannyasi with matted hair, walking barefoot, dressed simply, and carrying a document in his hand, approached him. The sannyasi asked Goel whether he had read the document. Goel picked it up, examined it, and replied that he had not. To his surprise, the document was not new; it was the Niyogi Committee Research Report, originally published in 1958. Sri Goel felt deeply ashamed and embarrassed upon realizing its significance and that he had never come across it. The sannyasi then shared the extraordinary story behind the report. He had walked barefoot deliver it to Sri Goel, explaining that all copies of the documet were systematically destroyed. Missionaries visited libraries, formally issued the document, & then deliberately destroyed it to ensure the report was never available in any library, academic archive, government office, or reprinted in any publication or article. The sannyasi emphasized the urgency and rarity of this single remaining copy, handing it over so that its contents could be preserved & understood. The incident highlighted the mechanisms of information control and ideological suppression in post-independence India. This powerful preface anecdote sets the tone for the book by illustrating how critical historical documents and truths can be erased through organized efforts. It underscores the importance of recovering suppressed knowledge and serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by independent researchers and thinkers like Sita Ram Goel in accessing authentic information. The story beautifully captures themes of dedication, secrecy, and the quiet battles fought to protect cultural and historical narratives in the face of powerful institutional opposition. #shorts
