Happy Birthday Daiwa Scarlet!

Today — May 13th — is the real birthday of Daiwa Scarlet, the Japanese Thoroughbred behind one of Uma Musume's most beloved characters. Born in 2004 at Shadai Farm, she raced from 2006 to 2008, winning four Grade 1 races: the Oka Sho, Shuka Sho, and Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup in 2007, followed by the Osaka Hai and the Arima Kinen in 2008. Her 2008 Arima Kinen victory made her the first mare to win the race in 37 years. In twelve career races, she never finished lower than second place. She is currently retired and living in Japan.
