Description

Former President Bill Clinton said he did nothing wrong and did not see any signs of Jeffrey Epstein's abuses in his opening statement to lawmakers investigating the convicted sex offender. Clinton’s deposition is the first time a former president has been compelled to testify before Congress. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sat with lawmakers for hours on Thursday. “I had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing. No matter how many photos you show me, I have two things at the end of the day matter more than your interpretation of those 20-year old photos,” he said in his opening statement. “I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.” The former president has not been accused of wrongdoing but was pictured in several photos featured in the initial batch of Epstein files released by the Justice Department. Bill Clinton has also said he flew on Epstein’s plane while traveling abroad for the Clinton Foundation, which Republican lawmakers said would be a centerpiece of their long list of questions for him. There were numerous photos of the former president with Epstein and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell included in the DOJ’s files. He was photographed in a hot tub, in a swimming pool with Maxwell and sitting at a table with a woman whose identity was redacted. All of the photos are undated, and it is unclear where they were taken. The former president has also said he stopped speaking with Epstein more than a decade before his 2019 arrest on sex trafficking charge. Epstein pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting a minor in Florida in 2008 and died in jail awaiting trial on federal charges. _______________ Hit the subscribe button to stay up-to-date on the latest news, and turn on the notifications to get alerted when the big stories break as we bring them to you live!
