Reid and Babyface and became a hit, reaching the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100 and Top Five on the R&B and Adult Contemporary Chart. Billboard described the song as "a soothing and romantic ballad, complimenting the singer's "warm and restrained vocal performance" as well as a "lush R&B arrangement."
