Maris Nichols, a 25-year-old biology teacher and football operations manager at Alexander High School, was arrested for allegedly having sexual encounters with a student in a shared classroom closet and a parked SUV. While Nichols is currently out on a $40,000 bond, parents have voiced outrage over a lack of academic instruction in her classroom and a perceived failure by the school district to ensure student safety.
