From the Atacama Desert in Chile to Cherrapunji in India and Réunion in the Indian Ocean, this documentary explores how people live with extreme relationships to water. In some places, every drop is scarce; in others, rain shapes daily life, work and survival. In Quillagua, one of the driest inhabited places on earth, water is transported from hundreds of kilometers away as the oasis struggles with a contaminated river and a shrinking population. In Cherrapunji, heavy rainfall brings its own challenges, from flooded mines to shortages of usable water caused by rapid runoff and deforestation. Réunion shows another face of abundance, with record-breaking rainfall, volcanic landscapes and frequent landslides.
