Lovey-dovey Couple of Oriental Turtle Doves Preen Each Other in Leafless Tree of Weeping Cherry

A pair of Oriental turtle doves (aka Eastern turtle dove or rufous turtle dove; Streptopelia orientalis, family Columbidae) perched side by side on a side branch of a defoliated old tree of weeping cherry (Cerasus itosakura, family Rosaceae) in the backyard. And they tenderly preened each other as well as their own plumages. A chirpy flock of Eurasian Tree Sparrows (Passer montanus, family Passeridae) were also resting on the perch nearby. Captured in the rainy early-afternoon (around 13:15 PM) of mid-March 2025 in Japan. Eventually, they noticed me and the camera-shy birds moved away along the branch to hide from me.
