Our Dango Gripper Mount review! After 10 years of abuse we explain why it's our choice for action cam mounts. Some of us used chest mounts to get that immersive feel but the camera was often pointing too high or low and it would shake too much. The best compromise is a removable helmet chin mount. It's a lot safer as it won't catch on passing branches. In an accident it will slide off which will reduce rotational forces that can lead to brain injuries. And if you use the widest camera angle you still have that immersive feel as the handlebars are almost always visible. For the past 10 years I have been using this Dango Gripper Mount. It has the added advantage of being removed easily. If you feel comfortable riding with one hand, you can get all sorts of great camera angles. Stand on the footpegs and hold the camera high for drone-style video. Hold it low to skim the ground. And if you see the police approaching you can always slip the camera quickly into your jacket or clip it to your backpack straps. Into enduro and dirt bikes? Check out our dirt bike videos. Extreme enduro training vids are our focus. What about you? Any favourite camera mounts? What are some of the greatest tools you've found to get better video footage? Let us know in the comments! Need hard enduro training? Work through our video lists. Hard enduro techniques are covered in our training vids. The biggest feature for me has been the creative angles. Helmet cam videos can be so boring when it's just the one endless video of chasing the motorbike in front. The Gripper Mount provides a lot more variation to keep your videos interesting. Into filming motorbikes? You can film your buddies riding past and watch the rear screen to ensure you are framing the video well. Film your own motorbike. If you are enduro riding get into our enduro training vids. Our dirt riding tips are great for developing your hard enduro skills. Sometimes I carry a three metre telescopic pole and just put the Gripper Mount on the end for more drone-style videos. A handy feature of the Gripper Mount is the camera doesn't get in the way or block your vision, but you can set it up so that you can see the red recording light so you always know if it's recording or not. Where you mount your action cam is important for safety reasons AND getting the best perspective. Years ago many of us put our Gopro cams on the top or side of our helmet where they could be easily snagged. If you want extreme enduro training see our playlists of enduro skills to learn. Try our training vids for working on your extreme enduro techniques. The audible beeps for turning the camera on and off are also much easier to hear. If you want to record your voice, it also comes out much clearer. Is this adventure riding or enduro? Bloody hell. Look as the size of these spiky plants. The clamp is extremely strong but as with any mount I like to use some kind of tether just in case the camera did fall off. The rubberised teeth will ensure a firm grip. Over the past 10 years I found the Gripper Mount worked perfectly on my enduro helmets but there was one adventure helmet where it would gradually slip lower and lower due to the helmet having a strange shape. You can also twist the mount quickly if you want to rotate the camera to the vertical position. In various countries it is actually illegal to mount action cams to your helmet. The Gripper Mount makes it harder to see you are using a helmet cam. Remember to check out our handy tips we have compiled over the past 15 years.
