Description
*originally recorded on 2-9-26*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching 733 in downtown Scottsboro, I decided to head back west and try to either get A81 on the branch (since I heard them finishing-up work while I was catching 733), or at least get 286 at this crossing on the west side of Scottsboro. Unfortunately, A81 had already reached AL 35 by the time I got to that crossing, so I decided to continue on west to this crossing instead. Anyways, here we get to see NS 286 for the second time on this day, having just met 733 just to the west of here at Midway.
Thankfully, absolutely nothing has changed to this crossing since I last recorded it, and I'm glad to see both Safetran mechanical bells here are still going strong. It appears that the ratchet mechanism in the far signal's gate mech failed to initially engage when the gate mech initially raised when the crossing deactivated, though the hold-clear relay was able to catch it. Ain't too often you see that, TBQH.
