The BMW E90 335d might be one of the most underrated performance cars BMW has ever built. While everyone talks about the N54 and N55 cars, the diesel-powered M57 has quietly built a reputation for making insane torque with just a few simple modifications. In today's video, we're putting that reputation to the test.
We picked up this 335d sleeper project and started transforming it into what we think could be one of the coolest daily-driver BMWs you can build. With the right upgrades, these cars are capable of producing nearly 700 lb-ft of torque while still looking completely stock from the outside. The result is a car that surprises just about everything it lines up against.
To bring this build together, ECS Tuning supplied the majority of the parts used throughout the project and helped make this vision a reality. We also equipped the car with a fresh set of Apex wheels wrapped in Nitto tires and upgraded the suspension with Ohlins coilovers to completely transform the way the car looks and drives. In Addition, we added every Whiteline bushing possible as well as sway bars to increase the stability of the E90!

But does it actually make sense to spend money building a diesel E90 instead of the more popular N54 or N55 platforms? That's the question we're trying to answer. We dive into the performance, driving experience, cost, reliability, and overall value to see if the forgotten diesel BMW might actually be the better buy.
Huge thanks to ECS Tuning, Apex Wheels, Nitto Tire, and Ohlins for supporting this build.
