Tim has visited many countries over the years. In the year 2000, he was visiting Iceland and from there he made a short trip across to Greenland. While he was there he bought the first two items he shows here, a decorative necklace and a table mat, both constructed from hundreds of tiny beads. Traditional craft items.
From Iceland, a wooden spinning top.
A bone carving of a bear, this time from Greenland. But with other figures included.
From a shop in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, Tim found some unusual woollen mittens - with two thumbs! Designed for people who work outside in cold weather, and who wear out the palm of the mitten. When that happens you just put the mitten on the other way round, and what was the back of the mitten is now the new palm!
Finally, from Greenland, a puzzle made entirely from local products, including bone and sealskin. There are two loops of sealskin string, each with a carved bone figure threaded onto it. One is a man, the other a woman. The challenge is to get both figures united on the same loop. Tim decides to have a go at solving the puzzle...!
