Description

On Wednesday 26th April 2023, Steam Incorporated ran Pounamu Tourism Group's Sir Edmund Hillary Explorer from Christchurch to Kaikoura, on the way north towards Marlborough. Da 1431 hauled the train for this segment of the tour, picking up Ab 608 at Waipara, the home of the Weka Pass Railway en-route, from where it would be towed in light steam. The train would then carry on to Blenheim & Picton, over the next couple of days behind the Ab, with the Da following behind, before the rolling stock would sailed across Cook Strait and transferred home to Paekakariki.
