Description
In Episode 120 of the Lessons from the Cockpit Show, my guest, retired Lt Col Rob "Z-Man" Zettel, describes the clown show of taxing the 4477th Red Eagles MiG-21 Fishbed fighter.
The famous US Air Force MiG Squadron maintainers would line up outside the hangars to watch the newly minted MiG Drivers taxi the Fishbed with its unconventional pneumatic differential braking technology to steer the jet to the runway.
This super-secret program was called "Constant Peg"... Constant after the callsign of one of the founders and Peg after the name of one of the pilot's wives. The Red Eagles had their funny moments, and Z-Man describes one of them.
