Umno sec-gen floats pullout, Zahid warns against escalation

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi warned against escalating tensions on social media after the High Court rejected former premier Najib Abdul Razak’s bid for home detention. Tensions deepened when DAP lawmaker Yeo Bee Yin’s remarks celebrating the ruling drew sharp condemnation from Umno leaders, including youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and secretary-general Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. Both suggested it may be time for Umno to reassess its ties with allies in the Madani government.
