20200401, Inspiration from COVID-19, Willie Woo, 胡偉廉, 加華錄像館, 加拿大多倫多 Woo was first elected as a Ward 3 councillor in the 2006 election. At the time he said he wanted to be an effective voice on council who would not shy away from speaking on behalf of Clarington residents. In 2010, Woo was elected as the regional councillor for Wards 3 and 4 with more than 70 per cent of the vote. In the last municipal election in 2014, Woo faced no challengers and was acclaimed to again represent Wards 3 and 4 as the regional councillor. His parents immigrated to Canada from China, and operated a restaurant at that site for close to 30 years when he was growing up in Newcastle. Woo’s family then attended the Clarington council meeting to hear his announcement, which garnered a standing ovation from other council members.
