Signs of discontent and turmoil have begun to emerge within the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) following the recent election defeat in West Bengal. A meeting of newly elected MLAs, scheduled for Sunday under the chairmanship of party chief Mamata Banerjee, had to be cancelled because nearly three-quarters of the 80 MLAs failed to attend. Meanwhile, several leaders have distanced themselves from the Trinamool Congress, and over 100 TMC councillors have resigned.
