Description

In the spirit of going out on rescues where I don't know what I'm rescuing and don't have great directions on how to find it, I did this "rescue" out on the headland for the bay. 200 metres from the fork, he says; no specific fork, it could have been any fork before I ran out of track and fell into the bay. He possibly could have done better by saying it was 200 metres from Browns Rock which was about 1500 metres away, with steep and sandy tracks and steps totally the wrong height distance apart set into the sand, but hey, it was exercise, unintended and not unpleasant. I only exercise for batties. I uploaded this video to show another facet of bat rescue, where you go out because there might be a bat, but not knowing what kind of bat it might be, or if it will even be a bat, or if it will even be there. I also thought you'd like to see the fairly standard seaside bush scrub with the songs of the local birds; what you didn't get to "see" was the tang of sea air and the smell of the bush. I didn't find the batty; it had gone; I still don't know what it was, and if it was even a batty in trouble. I just hope it's escape meant it is OK. Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for our batties. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status. By sending donations to them, they get a percentage (and deserve every cent) and they can allocate money to me for batty expenses without it becoming part of my income stream (which makes tax time difficult). https://tolgabathospital.org/donate/ Mention Megabattie or Meg in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to me. If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for me. IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund, can you please email Jenny with the AMOUNT DONATED and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt. The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie. Here’s Jenny’s email. [email protected]
