2025 marks Renault’s final season as a Formula One power unit supplier, given Alpine’s 2024 decision to go into the sports new era as a Mercedes customer team for better, cheaper grunt. It’s a sad split for the French squad, given its long history in F1 that dates back more than four decades - including back-to-back world title doubles with Fernando Alonso. And, as an engine supplier, for which it earned another 10 constructors’ crowns: four alone with Red Bull Racing from 2010 to 2013. 20.56 Renault first entered F1 in 1977, fielding one car for Jean-Pierre Jabouille. Though he didn’t finish any of the four races that he started, with the RS01 complete with the sport’s first turbo engine, dubbed “the yellow teapot” as its powerplant frequently boiled in complaint.
