Description
This is a Motormouth couple car video on the all-new 2027 Volkswagen Atlas, 3-row SUV.
Volkswagen has unveiled the second-generation Atlas with an updated 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder, a bolder exterior design, updated interior, new technology and available premium features.
The 2027 Volkswagen Atlas is powered by the new EA888 evo5 turbocharged and direct injection 2L 4-cylinder producing 282 horsepower, up 13 horsepower from the outgoing model. It’s matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission, standard AWD. The new engine is anticipated to provide better fuel economy and towing capacity remains the same at 5,000 pounds.
The 2027 Volkswagen Atlas is slightly longer than the outgoing model while height, width and wheelbase are unchanged. The Atlas has new sheet metal, redesigned front and rear lighting, stronger proportions, sculpted side sills and available illuminated door handles and puddle lamps. The front has double stacked LED headlamps and a masked upper grille. The double light lines and an illuminated VW badge are standard on all but the base trim. At the rear, the spoiler is more pronounced, and the tailgate sits flush with the rear bumper. The standard dynamic turn signals have three animations. There are new wheel designs that range in size between 18” to 21” with machined alloy and black finishes available. There are new colours available for 2027, Blackberry, Boreal Green and Ascot Grey.
The 2027 Volkswagen Atlas cabin has been redesigned with a more modern feel and more premium materials with contrast stitching and real wood décor featured on all models. There are two leather choices available including Nappa leather, leatherette is standard and more colour choices like Mistral which is your lightest option, Black and Garnet Red. The shifter moves to the steering column to free up space in the larger centre console just like the new Tiguan and the door handles have been revised. The technology is new including a standard 12.9” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto and a 10.25” digital driver display. A 15” touchscreen is available. A new driver experience dial is at the centre console controls audio volume, drive modes and the atmospheres feature on higher trims. The console has room for two phones with updated wireless charging. There are 7 USB-C ports throughout the cabin.
The 2027 Volkswagen Atlas will hit dealerships at the end of the year, pricing and trim details will be available closer to the on sale date.
