Description
On April 1, a number of changes announced by the government in Budget 2025 come into effect.
Main benefits will be increasing at the rate of inflation, 3.11%. Minimum wage will be increasing below the rate of inflation, going from $23.50 to $23.95. The compulsory minimum contribution to KiwiSaver is also increasing for both employees and employers, from 3% to 3.5%.
Additionally, an extra $50 a week is being sent to the 143,000 households who receive the In-Work Tax Credit (IWTC) to support them with the current fuel crisis. The IWTC is only available to working parents not receiving a benefit.
