PM announces halving of fuel excise on petrol and diesel

Anthony Albanese has confirmed the government will halve the fuel excise on petrol and diesel for three months, after calls from the Coalition to provide relief for motorists at the bowser. The Prime Minister, speaking after a meeting of national cabinet, confirmed the measure which will reduce the cost of fuel by 26.3 cents a litre, while also flagging an agreement between states and territories to ensure their budgets won’t benefit from elevated GST revenue. “We are announcing the commonwealth government will halve the fuel excise on petrol and diesel for three months.
