Description
A family holiday turned into a dramatic ordeal when a 13-year-old boy with Tourette syndrome was refused boarding by British Airways for shouting the word “bomb”. The day prior, parents Martyn and Gemma Entwistle had made the airline aware of son Mason’s condition - even highlighting that his vocal ticks were likely to include the word ‘bomb’. Despite being assured all would be fine by BA, and passing through security and their boarding gate at Gatwick Airport, they were suddenly halted at the plane doors and refused boarding, before the distressed child was escorted away by armed police for being a "security threat”. Martyn and Gemma join us to share their story and to campaign for wider awareness of Tourette syndrome.
