Description
Rachel has feline panleukopenia virus (FPV), the most pathogenic, most infectious, and highest-mortality viral disease in cats.
She's fighting for her life, and has not shown signs of improvement. We're beyond grateful her skilled team at @bbvsh_surrey was able to place a tiny ng tube through her impossibly tiny nostril so she can get nutrition. It will take time and continued aggressive supportive/intensive care before we know if she'll be able to rally.
Ofelia did well for her surgery to remove two miscarried and partially resorbed kittens, and is able to be discharged this afternoon! We’ll be moving Olive + Ofelia to the forest room (the Grinch's lair until he came to my house last night) to recover.
Tross has gained a tiny bit of weight and his temp is normal! He still has a long road ahead, but we’ll take this tiny win! HUGE thanks to Dr. Yee, who not only took Gingy home for the week, but spent several hours of her Christmas Eve checking for lab results, consulting, and helping us adjust his treatment plan so we could wake up to him starting to feel better! We're so grateful for her, and the team at @centrallangleyvet.
If you've been checking in on our livestreams, you've seen us furiously decontaminating, moving cats, and consulting with our amazing vet teams. Our daily protocols are solid, but with such an infectious virus, even the tiniest lapse, draft, or escaped particle can result in an outbreak to the other cats in our care.
We're doing large-scale decontamination in every spare moment we aren't with the cats, and will continue until our transmission risk paranoia loosens its grip. You know how we roll. 😹

We're also so very grateful to our #TinyVillage. Once again, you’ve been by our sides, surrounding us with your love and support. We would not be able to provide the level of care Rachel and Ofelia have needed without you, whether you support us financially or in so many other ways. 💝
