Meet Earl Grey, The Super-Rare Hybrid Sea Turtle Being Returned To The Atlantic

Meet Earl Grey, an extremely rare sea turtle rescued from the cold waters off Massachusetts in April 2026. Researchers initially thought the turtle was a loggerhead, but he turned out to be something far rarer: the hybrid of a Kemp's ridley sea turtle and a loggerhead. After a few weeks of care at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, he was released back into the Atlantic on May 28. Check out his momentous return right here.
