Moment British F-35s shoot down Iranian drone

Britain’s most advanced stealth plane shot down an Iranian drone over Jordan in the aircraft’s first recorded combat kill. F-35B warplanes have been scrambling from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus this week to intercept waves of kamikaze drones launched by Tehran. The jet used its advanced short-range air-to-air missiles to destroy an Iranian Shahed drone overnight, sources in the Ministry of Defence revealed tonight. The weapons can destroy targets in the air from as far away as 16 miles or as close as 300 metres. The operation took place while F-35s were protecting Jordanian airspace, with RAF Typhoons and Voyager air-to-air refuelling aircraft supporting the stealth jets. Iran has indiscriminately bombarded Jordan and the Gulf states in retaliatory strikes after the US and Israel attacked the country over the weekend, killing its supreme leader on Saturday. The following day, a UK Typhoon from 12 Squadron intercepted a one-way suicide drone with air-to-air missiles as it headed towards Qatar. Later that evening, RAF Akrotiri was struck by a single drone, causing minor damage.
