For Royal Avebe, sustainability isn't a future ambition. It's already built into how the organization grows, processes and powers its operations. As a cooperative of around 2,000 farmers, Royal Avebe processes starch potatoes into high-grade ingredients for food, feed and industrial applications worldwide. Its targets are clear: a 30% emissions reduction by 2030 and 1.5% annual energy efficiency improvement, year on year. At its Foxhol production site in Groningen, Netherlands, Avebe partnered with Schneider Electric to add a new industrial electric boiler, eliminate fossil-fuel heating and become an active energy prosumer, all without requiring any upgrades to its existing grid connection.
