CROFT - RACE 1 - TWINS - Club Racing 2026 - RACE 1

After what is becoming a more regular occurence of people not knowing their grid spot, the race finally started. I didn't launch well, and being surrounded by SV650's I went backwards. I was with Russel Dodds (Yellow/Aqua Scott leathers) though, and my plan was to stick with him to see if I could improve my lap times. Entering the complex, Enzo (novice vest) took a strange line and sent myself and Russell a bit wide, letting Calum come through on his red SV650. This allowed Russell to overtake Enzo on the straight, splitting us up. Maybe I should have been more aggressive with Enzo, but he wasn't holding a line through corners, so an overtake was risky. I didn't want to be too close. On lap 4 he looks behind out of Tower, slowing himself down, and I get alongside. I didn't want to pass into the Esses, but I thought I could slow him into the Esses, and I'd pass on the straight. After this I decided to settle into a comfortable pace, and save a little for the last lap, as it was a really warm day. A bit disappointed I didn't have any real battles to push my lap times on. There wasn't really an incentive to push too hard once I'd lost Russell.
