Sousek, Krejci, Czech Rep. bid for first World Cup in 20 years vs Denmark

Czech Republic will be hoping to qualify for a World Cup finals for only the second time in the country's history when they host Denmark in the UEFA play-offs on Tuesday. Miroslav Koubek's side advanced to the Path D final after coming back from 2-0 down before beating Republic of Ireland in a penalty shoot-out in last Thursday's semi-finals. The first Czech goal in that game was a penalty from Patrik Schick, who has scored five times in the qualifying campaign. 'The Representatives'' only previous finals appearance came at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, when a team that included Karel Poborsky, Tomas Rosicky and Petr Cech failed to make it beyond the group stage.
