Australian Raven Call - Loud wailing sounds

The loud drawn-out wailing calls of the Australian Raven are a common sound in many parts of Australia. Although the vocalizations of this species might sound like simple cawing notes, they have a complex repertoire and are an exceptionally intelligent bird species. Australian Ravens have calls associated with different functions and behaviour. For example they have a territorial call, warning or aggression sounds, contact calls and even a distinctive sound to signal a bird is returning home after being outside the territory. The Australian Raven (Corvus coronoides) calls in this video were recorded in the Wollondilly Valley, New South Wales, Australia.
