Joy is a wonderful thing. Discussion Questions: 1. Read Luke 2:8-14. What stands out to you in this passage? 2. Where has God’s light broken into your “darkness” recently? Luke 2 and Isaiah 9 both show God’s light arriving in unexpected places. Where have you experienced even a small dawn of God’s presence—an encouragement, a Scripture, a kindness—that reminded you joy can find you even before you go looking for it? 3. What does Jesus’ titles—Saviour, Messiah, Lord—mean for your everyday life? Before Jesus ever acted, the angel named who He is. Which of these names do you most need in this Advent season, and how does that shape the way you respond to stress, pressure, or weariness? 4. How can you “bring something to the potluck” of joy this Advent? Psalm 146 reminds us that God lifts up the oppressed and the bowed down, and the message connected this to service, compassion, generosity, and love. What practical act of service, generosity, or compassion could you offer this season—something small but real—that might multiply joy for someone else? 5. What do you really need from Jesus in this season of Advent? Following God often means noticing what’s beneath the surface—both in others and in ourselves.
