Macron refuses to respond to Trump's comments about his wife

French President Emmanuel Macron refused to respond to US President Donald Trump's comments about his marriage, saying they were "neither elegant nor up to standard". Trump had commented that Macron's wife treated the French president "extremely badly" during a rant about NATO and European allies' lack of support in Iran. Trump also seemed to reference a 2025 viral video of Macron's wife pushing him as they disembarked a plane. At the time, Macron said that the incident had been overblown, and that “we [were] squabbling and, rather, joking”.
