As part of the operation, Corrections staff carried out coordinated searches of prison cells in several facilities around the country. During these searches, officers seized contraband including large quantities of tobacco and suspected illicit drugs. Authorities say some inmates attempt to continue criminal activity while behind bars by using associates outside prison or by organising smuggling operations. Because of this risk, Corrections and Police regularly share intelligence and carry out joint operations aimed at disrupting organised crime networks that are still trying to operate from within prison.
