I Guarantee You’ve Never Seen This DIY Vacuum Hack Before

I guarantee you’ve never seen this before. Here’s how I like to attach wood to a foundation using these. Normally, there are anchor bolts, but sometimes they get forgotten or are installed in the wrong place. That’s where these Simpson Strong Tie Titan HD anchors come in. But here’s the thing- to install them properly I want to get all the dust out of the hole. So, I made a custom vacuum attachment with a mountain dew bottle, electrical tape, and plastic tubing. The tubing will fit all the way into the bottom of the hole and suck out the dust. Normally, you would use a blow-out bulb or compressed air, but those tend to shoot dust right back in your face. This thing worked awesome and it was cool to see the dust get sucked through the clear tubing. I like to drill the hole slightly deeper than the anchor, so it seats properly. Anchor bolts can get in the way when you’re trying to slide a framed wall in place. With these Titans you can slide the wall into position and then fasten it down. And if you don’t own an impact wrench, you can get a free workout installing them with a good old-fashioned rachet. @hausplans #build #howto #construction #contractor #hack
