Members of Caldwell First Nation discuss Bill S-2– June 11, 2026

Chief Nikki van Oirschot and members of Caldwell First Nation hold a news conference on Parliament Hill to discuss ongoing impacts of discrimination against First Nation women and families through enfranchisement. The chief is joined by Senator Paul Prosper, Caldwell First Nation member Lori Kittelberg and AFN National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak. They discuss their community’s perspective on Bill S-2, legislation to amend the Indian Act to end the second-generation cut-off rule for the transfer of Indian status.
