Description
The Australian Olympic Committee is having a makeover, a revolution of sorts, under the new leadership team of CEO Mark Arbib and President Ian Chesterman. There will be pain as jobs are lost and others are reshuffled, but it's designed to get the organisation match-fit ahead of Brisbane 2032, to work closer with Olympic sports and to empower the athletes.
Arbib's political connections also saw the bi-partisan 'welcome home' for the Moscow 1980 team take place in Parliament House a fortnight ago, and although a positive step for the athletes, the political messaging from the Opposition leader Sussan Ley left many scratching their heads.
