Description
The path to higher education is more than a process of learning, it’s a discovery of who you are and what you can become.
Freshta, Halima, and Najia overcame considerable challenges to exit the region, travelling first to Pakistan and then onto Adelaide where, in 2024, they restarted their education at UniSA College.
Remarkably all three have just been awarded joint Dux of their program, an achievement which stands in stark contrast to the more than two million girls and women in Afghanistan who are barred from attending school beyond primary level.
Having excelled in UniSA Foundation Studies - a dedicated pathway into a bachelor degree - the three sisters will now go on and study at Adelaide University.
In addition to their outstanding academic achievement, they are highly regarded by staff at UniSA College, and more widely, for their dedication and resilience in overcoming hardship alongside their humble and kind nature.
