Audience boos Israel during Eurovision song contest final in Vienna

The audience could be heard booing Israel during the Eurovision song contest final in Vienna on Saturday. As the votes were being counted and announced, with Israel taking the lead at one stage during the evening, the audience reacted with boos. One person could be heard shouting "ceasefire". Elsewhere during Noam Bettan's performance, some audience members were seen flying Palestinian flags. Israel's participation in the competition despite its ongoing genocide in Gaza has been cause for a widespread public boycott of the competition, with Spain, Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands and Slovenia refusing to participate in this year.
