After taking a look at the city’s history and how much of its original downtown was cleared during the urban renewal era to make way for the mall, we step inside to see what remains: a mix of open stores, empty storefronts, and repurposed spaces. From its 1979 opening to major anchor store closures and its recent transformation with the FISTA defense tech hub, this mall has taken a unique path compared to others across the country.
