Puberty Blockers: Why Won't Victoria Hit Pause?

Across the world, governments are reconsidering medical gender treatments for children. New Zealand joined the United Kingdom, France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and parts of the United States in restricting or banning puberty blockers for minors. Here in Australia, the Northern Territory has followed Queensland in banning puberty blockers and cross sex hormones for children in the public system, after an independent QLD review found the evidence for these treatments to be limited and inconsistent. When jurisdictions around the world are slowing down, why is the Victorian Government still pushing ahead? Victorian children deserve careful, evidence based care, not irreversible interventions driven by ideology.
