Description
Can you believe I found "Samosas" in the middle of a remote village in Turkmenistan? 🇹🇲🇮🇳
Today’s vlog is a mix of delicious food and mind-blowing history. We started our day in the city of Mary, preparing for a long journey into the Karakum Desert. But before we could reach the ancient ruins, we had to make a pit stop—and what we found shocked me!
🥟 The Indian Connection: Somsa vs. Samosa On the highway, we stopped at a local clay oven (Tandoor) setup where locals were baking fresh pastries. They call it "Somsa". It looks like a Samosa, smells like a Samosa, but tastes... unique! Unlike our fried Indian samosas, these are baked in a tandoor and filled with meat and onions. Sharing this meal with the locals was such a wholesome experience—it’s amazing how food connects cultures across borders.
🏛️ The Lost Civilization: Gonur Tepe After fueling up, we drove off-road deep into the desert to visit Gonur Tepe. If you haven't heard of this place, you are in for a surprise. This is the capital of the ancient Margiana civilization (BMAC), dating back to 2300 BC.
Walking through these 4,000-year-old ruins felt surreal. Archaeologists believe this might be the birthplace of Zoroastrianism and possibly the ancestral home of the Aryans before they migrated to India and Iran. We explored the massive fortress walls, the palace, and the ancient fire temples hidden in the dust of history.
This wasn't just a sightseeing trip; it was a journey back in time.
In this video, you will see:
The streets of Mary, Turkmenistan.
Trying authentic Turkmen "Somsa" at a roadside village.
Interacting with friendly locals in the countryside.
The difficult off-road drive to the archaeological site.
Exploring the mysteries of Gonur Tepe and its link to Indian history.
