Driving around Southampton in 1965

I’ve uncovered some old 8mm cine footage in this video while converting film reels from my collection and my late Dad’s archive. This gem, filmed in 1965, captures my Dad giving a driving lesson around Southampton. The camera was cleverly wedged on the backseat using a tripod and left to run, giving us a unique glimpse into driving through the city nearly 60 years ago. It’s silent, as most cine films were back then, but it’s a wonderful piece of history and a nostalgic look at the cars, roads, and streets of 1960s Southampton.
