PETA Posthumously Awards Dr. Jane Goodall, 2025 Person of the Year

Dr. Jane Goodall, who loved dogs as much as she respected and protected chimpanzees, became a vegan due to her respect for all animals, setting an impressive example of compassionate living. Her determination helped her fellow humans see the necessity to protect all the other animals on Earth. From her groundbreaking work protecting wildlife from trafficking and habitat destruction, advocating for the release of primates from laboratories, and teaching everyone she could that individuals of other species are not different in any relevant way from human beings and, therefore, should not be experimented upon, eaten, or used in entertainment, but left in peace, her tireless advocacy encouraged the understanding that every living being is someone.
