Father and Son Orangutan In A Huge Fight!

Chester Zoo's Bornean Orangutan Males are doing a little battling and although it is a fun fight Tombol is getting bigger and will probably need to be re-situated before the challenges get serious. Tombol is spending some rare moments with his Dad, alpha male Willie. They are a truly wonderful Bornean Orangutan family. Update video from February 2026 Chester Zoo has a very successful record of Orangutan births at the zoo and most of the Orangutan Mothers are able to rear their own young without the assistance of zoo staff, this is largely due to the expert care and facilities the World Class Zoo provides for the animals. The current animal population have had valuable experience with babies and have observed relatives caring for young, using this learning and experience to enable them to rear their own offspring Birth of critically endangered orangutan at Chester Zoo Bornean Orangutans have been considered critically endangered since 2016 with an only an estimated 100,000 left in the wild.
